Default AFM Buttonwillow April 2-3

Anyone from here headed up? Their license is only $50 if you don't care about championship points and WSMC and CCS licenses transfer over. Or you can take their new racers school as well...

I sent in my application and will be racing in 3 races... (plus the practice day on Saturday)

Can't wait! If you guys want more info... www.AFMracing.org or ask me and I'll tell you what I know!

I'll be there as well, but only racing in Formula II on my TZ250. This year I'm concentrating most of my efforts on WSMC.

I'm seriously thinking about it. If I can get my bike back together in time, I'm gonna try.

I'm not sure if I'm elligible for a reciprical license at this point. I'm currently about to hit Provisional Expert with WMSC in April. The AFM rule book makes mention of a "minimum 6 race weekends" requirement having to be met before one is elligible to race with a reciprical license. Not sure how firm a rule that is.

Also, I'm not sure exactly what races I'm elligible to enter. I believe they combine Expert and Novice racers together and score them separately.

After calling and getting a machine, I shot AFM an email this morning asking these questions but haven't heard back from them yet.

Zippy,
AFM is very slow in answering e-mails. Unlike WSMC they don't have a full time staff. You may or may not hear back from them within the next week. And yes, you do have to have 6 complete race weekends (not races) with documentation otherwise you have to take their new racers school. (AFM Rulebook 2.1.3)

TZRaceR6,

Believe it or not, they got back to me right away (Saturday).

I was told that I qualify (perhaps it wasn't noticed - in my email - that I've only run four race weekends to date). I was told to get my paperwork in immediately by fax and by mail.

They weren't able to tell me what Novice races I qualify for with my mostly stock R1. I have a slip-on exhaust with brake and suspension upgrades. Their registration process is much more complicated than that of WSMC.

I guess I'm just gonna send in my paperwork and see what happens.

You won't qualify for any Superstock races, unless you put your original OEM pipe back on, then you will, since you haven't modified anything else.

In terms of other races, you qualify for pretty much every other race that a liter bike is eligible for.

Damn, it's going on 2 weeks since the last e-mail I sent them and still nothing. I even left a message on their answering machine and again nothing.

There's no schedule for the weekend yet, can't confirm if my pre-entry forms were received, nothing. AFM is looking pretty fooked up right now in my eyes!

Damn, two weeks...not cool.

I may hold off on AFM for the time being. Don't really feel like jumping through a bunch of hoops for the privilege of racing with their organization.

It's too late now anyway. You have to be pre-entered to race. And unless you are already an expert with another racing org, they'll need proof of 6 race weekends, which would probably bring about a whole nother can of worms.
