Honda is best for reliability IMHO.

What type of riding do you want to do? :clapping

Because the ttr250 is nothing more than a trail bike.

I would never recomend one unless it was for a beginner that only wanted to putt around. (Forever).

IMHO buy the XT250 so that you could at least ride on the road.

There is yesterdays technology built all over that bike. :yikes

I took a look at the WR series and I would buy that over the TTR I want to do all around riding and the only kindda on road stuff will be the ocasional running of the forest service fire road so an enduro is not needed...I know i want a thumper cuz i've never really liked the two stroke it's a little touchy for my godzilla griped wrist...I was looking at the stuff with head and tail light on just in case there was an ocasion we got caught out after dark most of our riding will be heading off into the mountains to ride single track trails and just that kindda general riding so the CR MX bikes are out as they only hold a gallon or so of gas...I'm looking for something that can go around 80 miles on a tank...oh yeah and something with the tourqe to wheelie like a mad man...........I am kindda thinking about the CRF230F as it's only 3400 and i might get the back in taxes this year so i could just out right buy it...it looks like a good beginers bike....i'm used to the quad that i had but this will be my first two wheel dirt type bike...the two things i see that i don't like about the crf230 is that it has a rear drum brake and it's not as versitale suspension wise but for something to get my feet wet on it doesn't look to bad if it will haul my fat arse around....

Well RC,

I weigh about 222 now and that CRF230 would not treat me very nice. And if you want to wheelie then you better have some skills cause the power from the 230 isn?t gonna help you much.

The WR250F is polly more towards what you want. And the Crf250X.

They cost a bit more but for the reasons that you mentioned before. Suspension and braking components are far superior. And the motors on both bikes just rock. Not only will you be able to enjoy the learning experience but the bike will handle and grow with you as your skills increase.

And they?re THUMPERS. :thumbup

Just my opinion, hope it helps.

Oh yeah, my old 2003 CRF450r was my first dirt bike. I had Dual Sports before and I would recommend the 450 as a good bike to learn on. (With Major Throttle Control) And a willingness to take baby steps.

Chiricahua :wave

Well after looking at everything I decided when it's time that i'm going to get the WR450 it just felt right and the yamaha dealer was hella cool promt attention and the sales person answered every question i asked and wasn't pushy at all....the honda/suzuki/kawi dealer on the other hand i'm not sure about i stood there for ten min while one sales guy talked to his real estate buddy in another state about the weather and the other two stodd around talking to each other then the one finally got off the phone and went to tell the other two about his conversation...finally got pissed and said fairly loudly guess i'll go spend my money somewhere else.....and started to walk out and finally some other sales guy walks up from behind as i'm walking out asking if he can help me...i'm like no and left....

Can't go wrong with the WR4fidy.

It'll take you into the next decade.

Really reliable bike.
