iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 6 (56) | Well, it has been a frustrating experience trying to find leathers that fit me and are affordable. I tried on Tecknik's, which were too big and didn't come in a size small enough for me. Then I tried on Dainese, which were also too big, and the same went with Frank Thomas (which I hated). Oh, and heaven forbid that any motorcycle store carry a large selection for the female rider (just wait, soon more and more women will be riding and demanding good gear). Finally, I ran into GixxerJen at Cycle Gear in SD. The girl rides a GSX-1000 and used to stunt, and she's about the same size as me. I zeroed in on her and grilled her on what she wears. It turns out that she wears Alpinestars and loves them. So, I decided to take the hit and ordered a pair in size 8. I held my breath and dreaded the call to come pick them up. Please God, let them fit! Rode down on Saturday to pick them. I walked into the dressing room and tugged the pants on. This was a good sign, I actually had to work at getting them on. After some contortionist moves, I got my arms into the sleeves and the suit zippered up. Hallelujah! The suit fits! I walked out to show off my leathers and make sure I wasn't hallucinating. There was a concensus. The leathers did indeed fit! Now, I had to get them home. Oh what a ride. I think I lost 5 lbs. in water weight and Throttlepimp had to help me shed the suit once we got home. Ever tried peeling a smooshed and melted chocolate bar? So, I'm now thrilled to death to finally have my own pair of leathers and am looking forward to Femmoto in Vegas in October. Woohoo! Oh, and did I mention that I look like a girl wearing the leathers? Oh yeah, there's no "Excuse me, sir" anymore! :thumbup |

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 7 (22) | It is awesome that you found something that fits. It was a nightmare for me, and I ended up going custom with Z Leathers. I am REALLY happy with my leathers from Z. Are you wearing under armor (top & bottom)?? If not, you can pick some up pretty cheap at Walmart or Big 5, and you will be able to slide in and out of your leathers.... Deb

| Newbie | Mind if I ask what size you are, and if your suit is a one-piece? I've been wanting to buy my wife a one-piece suit but we can't find one that even comes close to fitting.

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 6 (56) | I'm afraid if I wore an itsy-bitsy yellow polka dotted bikini it would just provide more surface area for the leathers to latch onto. :headscratch Thanks Deb for the heads-up on the underarmor. I'll definitely be getting me some. :thumbup The Alpinestar suit is a Size 8. I'm 5'5" and 125 lbs. I've got short legs, small waist and wide shoulders. I'm described as petite to the casual eye, but I do have muscle from years of playing sports and riding horses. Problems I faced was too much room in the calve area, two wide around the waist, not enough shoulder room, if it fit on top it wouldn't fit the bottom and vice versa, oh and let's not forget the excess leather pouch in the front which doesn't allow you to snuggle up against your tank. Have your wife try on as many leathers as possible. The thing about ordering from Cycle Gear, is if it doesn't fit I could return it without penalty. Pics will come later. :funflip |
