Default Riding Jeans Question.

Alright, I never ride without at least a full touring suit on and usually wear full leathers but I want to start riding more on a casual basis. This means going to lunch or to the shopping center to do some shopping. Anyway, right now I don't ride unless I have time to get totally suited up and don't plan on running any errands. The problem with this is when I stop somewhere I'm wearing all my gear and am either uncomfortable or have people staring at me like I'm a freak. I saw these riding jeans and was wondering if anyone has used them and if they would hold up in a crash. I know first hand that textiles hold up pretty good but I've seen normal jeans get shredded right off and would never ride in them.

I know Icon makes a couple pairs of riding jeans. Me and my roomate both wear them but neither of us has actually "tested" their strength in a crash, but I hear they do what they are supposed to.

No, that is what they are. Supposedly several companies make riding pants out of extra thick and reinforced jean material. Some come with Armor and some Kevlar built in. I'm just trying to find something that I can walk around in once I'm off my bike that doesn't look like riding gear.

Check out www.cyclegear.com.

Under men's pants they have riding jeans made by Icon, Joe Rocket, etc. You can check them out and see what meets your standards. Some look like regular jeans except they have extra reinforcement in places like your knees, others look like jeans on steriods.

Good luck!

:welcome ........been lurking for awhile 'eh? :wave

Joe Rocket makes riding pants that go over your pants/jeans that have Kevlar in them I believe. They get hot in the summer, but I've tested them on the pavement at a low speed & they held up well. They are awesome in the rain & will keep you warm in very cold temps. With full side zippers, they are very easy to step into & out of. Best bet is to go to the Long Beach Motorcycle Show to see if they have them on sale like usual....I believe around $100 or less....or click on our site sponsor above.

Ballistic 4.0 Pants - Short Features:
-100% waterproof.
-RockTex 600 shell.
-RockTex 1050 reinforcements on knee/shin and hips.
-High density padding in hips.
-Dual density body armor in knees.
-8" rear zipper for jacket attachment.
-Full length two way leg zippers.
-Precurved legs.
-Reflective safety stripe

Ku****ani makes real leather pants that look just like denim pants... They aren't cheap but are awesome for what you are talking about...
