Default under armour and riding pants stuff

Ok. I tried doing a search but still don't know what you guys mean when you talk about 'under armour'...
The only under armour (armor?) I know is the stuff I use for my long runs (wicking material and such)... Is that what you refer to or is there something called like that but with actual protection for motorcycle riders?
:headscratch

Also... I'm really looking into buying pants for every day riding. I've been thinking about those special jeans (Icon and... whatever the other brand is...), but Speed's comment about the Ballistic textile pants got my attention ... I may look into that :thumbup but with this HOT summer we're having, meanwhile, I'd love to find something similar -that you can put over jeans or whatever- but in mesh... has anyone heard about something like that? I am currently commuting on jeans and Icon work boots, or alpinestars, and a mesh Gericke jacket so I'd like to increase the protection for my lower body (ok, ok, jeans are no protection whatsoever... I'd like to actually protect it! :laughing )

I have the Alpinestars Air-Flo pants and I like them a lot for commuting. I zip them over my work pants (they zip all the way up both legs) and they aren't too bulky feeling. They have foam padding in the knees and shins and seem like they would provide decent protection in a crash. They are mesh in some areas so they aren't too hot either. Actually if I wear them without pants underneath they are cooler to ride in than jeans. :thumbup

From what I've heard, the Icon jeans are not that great. I think Draggin Jeans are better, but still just BARELY adequate I would think.

And yeah, the Under Armor everyone talks about is the same stuff you know of. It works well under leathers and makes getting them off much easier when you're all hot and sweaty.

You can get the same stuff as under armour from roadrunnersports or any running type store as long as you stay away from Nike, Asics or other name brand. Unless you are by the Nike Outlet (awesome prices).

Thinking about stepping up to the air pants myself. Need something mesh. With the "rain/cold" weather pants it just isn't cuttin' that protected feeling.

I still wear the leathers on the weekend with 104 plus temps. Better to sweat than to bleed.

Thanks!

I see Air-flo and Ballistic in my near future... :thumbup

Yes, I just got some stuff from Aspire. Never heard of that brand... but it works so that's good enough for me.

I also tend to wear leathers when going on weekend rides... sucky as it feels.... :laughing
