iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 6 (56) | OK, some responses a little harsh, others in favor. I see the point of both. Being Throttlepimp's girlfriend, I know that he's pretty laid back and it takes a lot to piss him off. I'm sure we've all experienced the rudeness of some moron who doesn't think, but who manages to push all the right buttons for you to lose your temper. I've had quite a few run-ins myself, and am usually too busy getting out of the way and maintaining control of my bike. After it happens I'm pretty pissed off and have many violent thoughts running through my head thanks to the sudden burst of adrenaline. But, the reality is the moron got away with being an idiot, I got away with my life and all my body parts in order, and there was no justice served. Regarding guns and the ownership/carrying of one. My dad was an MP, so I grew up around them, plus I worked at a PD for a while. The gun itself is not lethal. The gun in the hand of an irresponsible person is deadly. Sure, let's all carry guns, but those who are rational and responsible will hesitate to use them. Those who have no conscience, morals, brain, etc. won't hesitate and will have no qualms about using the gun to take someone's life. I had thought about getting a concealed weapons permit while working at the PD. I grilled all the officers about what they thought of it. Some were for it, some were against. Most said that if you have one, you better be willing to use it (no hesitation), others said the gun puts a new element into the situation (deadly). All said your best mode of defense is to avoid the situation (i.e. stay out of dark alleys, don't go by yourself, etc.) So, in Throttlepimp's situation I understand why he did what he did, although I wouldn't do it. As far as using a gun to blow the driver away, well, once your anger dissipates I'm sure you'd feel remorse for taking away someone's life. He may have been some ******* to you, but he may have been someone else's dad, husband, brother, uncle, grandpa, etc. Shame on the driver for not thinking before he acted. Shame on him for not feeling remorseful over his actions. And, maybe, just maybe he learned a small lesson. There are consequences to your actions. OK, I'm done with my soapbox. :soapbox I'll step down and let someone else stand up. P.S. Not saying I'm innocent of any retaliation when wronged by some moron. I'm just older and have a lot more to lose now. |
