He mentions that he is still learning, blah, blah, blah. Learning what? He is in the premier racing class. There is no place higher on the motorcycle racing ladder. When racing motoGP you should be a master of the sport not a student of it. Someone needs to give that boy a talking to :bitchslap
All that "Awe shucks" talk has got to go.

Its only his second season of riding MotoGP so one thing he's still learning are the tracks. The other guys he's racing have been at the tracks he's at 10+ times so they've got a major advantage there.

I'm sure once someone gets to the position he's in theres a totally new level of learning taking place. How to communicate to the tech crew how your bike is acting and what needs to be done to get it tuned correctly for the track, the riding style of your compeitors, the new tires are probably a big deal too, in some cases you can be riding on a totally new design thats never been ridden on. MotoGP is all about prototypes, the bikes are one offs, the parts are one offs....and theres a lot to it as opposed to when he was in AMA on tracks that he knew on bikes that he knew with competitors that he knew.

I think the past few podiums he's taken are a great sign of big things to come, once he's comfortable with all that MotoGP has to offer he'll be dicing it out with Rossi, Biaggi and the rest of the big dogs moreso than he already is.

Don't stick up for him. He is a big boy and am sure he can take care of himself. I would imagine he knows the tracks quite well. I would think that they have simulators for the racers to go through to learn the tracks so they don't actually have to ride them that much. And as far as learning the bike, sure that takes time but Rossi is on a totally knew bike and even an admittedly slower bike and is still whooping some ass.

I wonder if maybe the racers in the Honda camp are so afraid of not getting picked up by their sponsor that they ride more cautiously to at least be in the points race. It seems Rossi rides like he has no worries except to win. His position with his sponsor may be such that even if he wipes out he still has backing. And if that is the case then good for Rossi bad for everybody else.

"But I realize it's just going to ... you've got to crawl before you can walk, and I know I've got to just work, and it's not going to happen overnight." Nicky Haden.

IMHO the boy has talent. Nicky that is. :clapping

The M1 isn't the same bike that everyone thinks that it was. I don't believe the M1 to be slower. :thumbup

It's all good for us. Major competition brings out the best in Racers.

It was just reported that Rossi; is what Biagi wants to be! :funflip

He knows the tracks well, I'm sure...but he doesnt know them as well as the people he's racing against, and thats the big deal. His lap times have gotten much better than last season, but everyone else stepped up the pace as well.

Rossi is definitely a better rider than hayden currently. Theres no doubt there. But he's also got a lot more experience on the circuits. When rossi and hayden were dicing it up 2 races ago I believe they both showed extreme talent and nicky edged him out. Its a slower bike in a straight line but as it said, its still a very competitive bike and although the top speed is lower one could easily note that it coudl very well have a handling advantage over the RC211v.

I dont think anyones riding overly cautios. You need results to stay with the team. As the season progresses I'm sure nicky will see more podiums and even a first.

Rossi has been doing GP since 1996. He won his first (non GP) title in '94.

Just give nicky some time...thats all I'm tryin to get to.

There always a learning curve in racing. New tracks, New team, New bike. Same thing happens in differant forms of racing as well. Cars and bikes.
