Well that's some good news!

Will you get the same bike again when this is all settled?

I have 4 Aprilia's and 2 other bikes, I do not have Theft/Collision on any of them. I would really ruin my day if any of them disappeared.

Besides I have a intense hate of thieves, and as you said the cops do little or nothing to help. And even if the catch the thieves, they seem more concerned that they are well taken care of.

For me the solution was found here. GPS-Snitch | Home For myself, it is much better than a Lo-Jack that only tell the police where your bike is. This way I can be as up close and personal as I choose to be with the thieves. Plus it is less than 1/2 the price, about what 1 years insurance for comp would cost on only 1 bike.

If you read through the data, if will notify you via SMS when your bike moves from where it is parked. You are not 12 hours behind the scene.

I bought a data logger for my track bike from this outfit and really like it.

I was just thinking, how effective are alarms as a theft deterrent?? any personal experience? Any ideas?

1. In the place no one can see the bike
or
2. More common scenario: anywhere in SoCal with its sissy leisure-obsessed population afraid of any confrontation

Not effective at all.

3. In front of the police (CHP, SD, etc.) station - 100% effective.
Whether the same goes for security booth's at work... maybe. I wouldn't count on it.
