| Spammer | I've just about made up my mind with 1 pc suits, and I'm probably going with the Teknic Violator. For the quality and price it seems like the best way to go. What I need now is some suggestions or help with which size I should get, because nobody around here carries them to my knowledge, so I can't go try them on. If you have experience with how this suit fits or know people who do then I'm all ears. I'm about 5'11" or maybe 5'10", somewhere around that in height. I weigh around 145-150. My waist is about a 31 or maybe 32 at most. Basically I'm skinny and about average height. I tried taking some measurements on chest and sleeve length, as well as inseam, but those things are so hard to get accurate because you never know where the manufacter means for you to measure on yourself. I figure from the dimensions given, hopefully some of you familiar with the suit may be able to tell me what size I can go with. Even so, I tried to take some measurements of myself from guidelines I read and here they are... Chest: 39.5" Sleeve Length: 32" Waist: 31.5" Inseam: 31" Height: 5'10" Weight: 148 lbs As you'll see from the measurements Teknic gives on their website, my measurements must be off on the sleeve at least or else I've got strangely long arms. Other than that my measurements may be about right with what they mean you to measure. I'm at a loss on deciding which size to go with, it's either gonna be 40 or 42. Here is the guidelines they give for those sizes. Size 40: Chest- 40" Waist- 30-31" Sleeve Length- 25.5" Inseam- 30.5" Apx. Height- 5'8" Apx. Weight- 150 lbs Size 42: Chest- 42" Waist- 32-33" Sleeve Length- 26" Inseam- 31" Apx. Height- 5'10" Apx. Weight- 160 lbs So what's making me unsure is the height and weight guidelines they give. I'm 145-150 so that would put me in for a 40, but I'm about 5'10" or 5'11" so that would maybe put me in for a 42. Obviously the difference in inches between the two on the various measurements is extremely slight, but I don't know if I should go with a bigger one or smaller one. On Sportbiketrackgear.com they show the suit being worn by 3 different guys, and one of them is a guy who they say is 6' tall and weighs approx 155 lbs, and they have him in a size 42 and they say it's perfect for him. That almost tells me I should maybe go for a size 40 since I'm a bit shorter and lighter than that guy, the 42 may be a little loose on me. Is it better to leave some room incase I gain some size, or should I go with the 40? Anyone who knows Teknic suits well, or anyone with some experience in this, your input is welcome and needed bad. :P Thanks The only other suit I was considering at this point was the Alpinestars RC-1, but I don't know, the Teknic sounds like it's a better suit for the money. Anyone got pictures of yourself wearing the RC-1 suit? Last edited by booser4 : 10-11-2007 at 10:41 PM. |

iTrader: (5) Rep Power: 16 (42) | Doesn't look like you are going to fit into the 40, so it would be the 42 for you. Maybe this guy will let you try his on.... Blue Teknic Violator (1-piece suit) |

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 4 (16) | Go to Bert's, D-Store, or any other large store/dealership that's likely to have all sizes. Even Cycle Gear. Try on several different brands. Not at D-Store though, as they're all Dainese, LOL. You'll get the idea. |

| Spammer | Does anyone know of a place that carries the Violator in So Cal? I'm in Oceanside so I can go to San Diego or Orange County pretty easy. I'd like to find a place that carries Teknic suits, and even better would be the exact model that I'm looking at to really get an idea. I've got a guy on another forum who says he's about 5'10" and 140 lbs, so we are the exact same size and I'm just 5-10 lbs heavier than him. He says he wears the Violator in a 42, and it fits nice in the arm and leg length, and is only a little loose in the middle areas. He said the next size down would have been too short from crotch to neck, so that makes me think to go with the 42 and it'll leave me a bit of weight gain room without affecting the safety of the suit. I still would like to throw on the 40 though to, just to see if it seems better to me. |

| Squid | I would think House of Motorcycles would have it...I got my Teknic Chicane from the House down in SD so they might have it there...Have someone check you out with it on to see if it is the proper size.

| Spammer | So now I got another issue thrown at me....Teknic released a new suit, The Xcelerator, and it looks sick as hell. TEKNIC XCELERATOR 1 Piece Suit from Sportbiketrackgear.com 888-784-4327 It appears to be maybe a little bit higher quality materials than the Violator. They still use 1.4mm cowhide, but they also use 1.0mm kangaroo. I also like the looks of it, I'm just not sure about a white suit, because I don't know how dirty and nasty looking they get in the long run. The Xcelerator looks a lot like the A* MX-1 suit in color scheme. Who knows, now I might go Xcelerator over the Violator, since to me it looks less like a Pajama suit. I still need to head to SD one day to do some trying on. It's too back and forth on the size question, basically every forum I've asked is 50-50 on what size to go with. Some say the 40 will be way too small for my height, and the 42 will be good and maybe leave a little bit of room. Others say the 40 will be very tight but probably perfect once it breaks in, and the 42 will be way too big. So I need to take my boots and gloves with me and go try them on somewhere to see for myself. Maybe even sit on a bike with it on. |

| Spammer | So to throw it out there, if I did go with an Alpinestars, what size would I probably be looking at? Again my measurement are... Height - 5'10" Weight - 145-150 lbs (It Varies) Waist - 31.5" Chest - 39.5" Inseam - Approx. 31" (Not sure how accurate our measurement was) Sleeve - Approx. 32" (Probably measured this wrong considering the values suit makers give for this) The good thing about Alpinestars is they have a bit more availability, so I might be able to go try them on somewhere before I order online. Where as Teknic I've called everywhere in SD and Orange County, and nobody has them in stock, they all said they sent them back because the demand wasn't high enough. Also I've been saving more money, so I might just be an idiot and buy the Race Replica suit even though I could get similar quality for cheaper. I just like the suit a lot. Currently my only point of reference is my Alpinestars Jacket, which is a TZ-1 model. It's a size 40US/50Euro, and it seems big to me. It certainly isn't snug to my body. Now some people in the past did tell me that the TZ-1 is a looser fitting, more relaxed jacket, so the same size in a more aggressive jacket could be actually tighter. I don't know if there's any truth to that though. Judging off my jacket though, I'd say I might be looking at a size 38 US / 48 Euro suit, or at the largest maybe a 40 US / 50 Euro. In Teknic my debate has been between a 40 and a 42 US. I figure since Teknic is known to fit about a size smaller than a lot of other brands, I could definitely do the 40 A* suit with no problem, but maybe could squeeze the 38. Any thoughts? |
