| Spammer | I'm ready for my 8000 mile service, and I'm looking for a shop known to be good with servicing sport bikes. Most important is that they do everything they are supposed to on that service as recommended by the manufacturer and that they do a good job. Other things that I'm taking into consideration as a secondary list of what would be nice is competitive pricing, good customer service (aka patient and willing to answer questions / concerns), one that comes recommended by many due to a good reputation, and hopefully it isn't ridiculously far to ride there. I'm in Oceanside, CA, so really I'm willing to do anything around San Diego or Orange County. Within that realm. If it's any farther, it's getting a bit too far. I know the best way to ensure the best work is to do it yourself, because nobody cares about your stuff as much as you do, but I just don't know how to do all of it yet, and I haven't gotten in to buying a shop manual and learning it. As of now all I do is oil changes, and I can probably figure out flushing the coolant, and adjusting the chain. Other than that, for the big services I'm still more comfortable just taking it to a specialist and paying. The main shop I've been considering is NKB Motorcycles, because I've had a couple people recommend them, and they've told me that others have recommended them as well. All I've been told is that NKB does very good service on sport bikes, does everything they say, and that they have a lot of experience. So if anyone else has feedback on them great, but any suggestions are awesome. I'm basically finished with taking my bike to any dealer. My dealer pissed me off both times I took it to them for the 600 and the 4000, because they didn't do things that are listed in the manual, and not only that... they said they would do it. The excuse at the end was, "oh it looks fine how it is, so we didn't need to touch it." Plus enough people have told me that dealers are typically not great with servicing bikes, and it's better to find a good shop with some more expertise and who is honest. |
