iTrader: (5) Rep Power: 15 (42) | Got my eye on the new Honda CBR1000RR & the new Ducati 848. I have one price in so far on the Honda CBR1000RR, but no hook-ups on the Ducati 848. I used to own a 2001 Honda CBR929 & put over 40k miles on it, that was a great bike. As many of you know, I've owned quite a few bikes since then including a 2001 Aprilia Mille R. V-twins are such a different animal. It was nice to be able to switch back and forth between the two. Problem is right now I can't have both, so which would be the best for me now that I ride mostly on the track? ![]() The Honda: Big power, smooth, always fit me well, new slipper clutch, supposed to cut like a knife, lightweight, look great in race trim, and of course they cost less in purchase price & up-keep. The Ducati: Well, it's got a sweet look, lightweight, I've never owned a Ducati before, v-twin thrill, doesn't have that crappy metal clanging sound that the dry clutches make, supposed to cut like a knife, cost more than the Honda in both purchase price & up-keep, will hold it's value longer? I'd like to get some good feedback from you guys/gals. What do you think I should get & why? |

| Canyon Carver | Really think you need a liter bike with the way you rode that 600? You out paced a lot people who were riding liters. I don't count. I am there for lapping practice. Why not another 600? As for the duc. Never owned one but have heard many bitch about the maintenance intervals.

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 2 (28) | Go big RED! I think the new RR looks pretty stunning too. Besides the costs/intervals of maintenance of the Ducati, I have heard it takes a while to get parts. Where's Tommy's opinion?? (YellowDuc748)

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 2 (15) | I'm goin with the duc on this one. I love Hondas, and I'm sure the new RR is a great bike, but looking at it makes me wanna puke. The 848 is just pure sex, and everything I've read about it says that it's an amazing bike to ride too.

Of course it would be totally sweet to have both the Honda CBR600RR & 1000RR. ![]() Quote:
Never really thought of that. Wonder how they stack up in the maint dept? Not sure I'm ready to go with a Triumph really. Quote:
The 848 does look sweet. Red would be my color for sure. I'd have to get the black parts painted red as well. Yes they are, but red is the faster color....... ![]() Thanks for the replies, keep them coming. ![]() | |||

iTrader: (1) Rep Power: 5 (47) | Funny you posted this topic. I just was looking at the motorcycle shop here in Monterey (since I am in Monterey until tomorrow) and I sat on the new 1000rr and I didn't like the feel of it at all, nor did I like looking at it. Comparing it with last years 1000rr, I would get last years model, as far as looks and feel are concerned. Never ridden one so I don't know about that part. The new 848 is freakin smokin! I saw both the red and white and I have to say the white is beautiful in person. It has a pearlescent tone to it, but I still think I would have to get the red one. As far as feel, it feels like a ducati. It has more of a racing feel to it than the 1000rr does. I have never owned one, but I think my next bike will either be the 848 or the 1098.
