I wonder if it's timed at 180 degrees, or if it's at 270...imagine seeing one of those idling doing the potato-potato-potato.

For the love of God, why use that ancient motor? It's gotta be a hundred pounds heavier than a modern twin or I4 motor...

The looks are equally ancient. It's like someone took an early to mid-nineties sports car (let's say a well-respected Acura NSX) and presented it as a new cutting edge automotive design direction with "exclusive" price tag to match. Don't forget, that machine was designed and is assembled in some low tech garage most likely lacking modern CAD process, wind tunnel testing, and so on, not to mention the professional design artist. IMo it's equally low tech to anything coming out of OC Choppers. "Hand-built"... It's 21st Century for crissake.

Looks like a 1098 without the tubular frame to me.

Look at that huge tail and prehistoric tank. It's more 998 than 1098. With a little Honda flavor in the form of 2003 600RR side cowls and RC51 vents. Then it continues onto 2004 R1 air intakes and severely butchered 2002 Ducati superbike headlights. Overall that styling is from 2002-2003 era. As for the frame, it's two-piece design looks so hi-tech... (in Borat's voice) NOT. Something from mid-eighties as I can recall. Some things a) need professional design, b) can't be machined in someone's garage. IMO he'd be better off welding a tubular frame.

I like some of the older styles, guess that's why the '08 Honda CBR1000RR is looking better & better to me. I may still pick up an '01 Aprilia Mille R in Yellow like my previous bike if I can find one in great shape with low miles. I agree on the tube frame.

1000RR is not "old". It's a little "retro" and only around the nose; And they didn't do it on purpose IMO, but just mimicked a MotoGP bike which automatically makes it beautiful. Other than a half-a$$ed attempt at the underbelly exhaust it's a beautiful bike.

That abomination on the other hand is completely style-less (for the lack of a better word) collection of bits and pieces from 2002-03 sportbikes.

And as far as "old" vs. "retro" the perfect example is Buick whatever (pick any model) vs. VW New Beatle.
