iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 4 (16) | The rear wheel is even simpler. A good crowbar would bend that "cover" out of the way. Your bike will last longer, but it's still the question of time like I once was told by a police investigator. It'd deter low-life petty criminals, but sooner or later your bike would be discovered by pros and then I believe Mike's numbers are accurate. As far as chains go (and that hardened rod as well) I believe there's some British video of chain cutting. It takes 30 seconds max for the toughest special-order chain. And if you think people would interfere or at least call the police about the noise SoCal sissies wouldn't. They always mind their own business. Park it in your own garage or even rent a storage unit. Or rent something on the first floor and roll it inside. The garage can still be broken into, but the point is to keep your bike out of sight of the general population. In your case it'd still be exposed 24/7 to everybody and then by word of mouth to their friends and friends of friends and so on until some of those friends of friends, a career thief, would come over to check it out. I personally think one needs to prepare for bike ownership and think of all angles of it, not just twisting the throttle. So at the very least you wouldn't waste $500-2K on insurance annually. But people insist on careless hip and urban lifestyle. In a way I'm glad there are enough bikes kept in exposed unsecured apartment parking lots, so thieves always have convenient feeding grounds and wouldn't think about breaking into my garage. |

| Squid | I live at the 163/805 junction just above Sharp's hospital. The downfall to my area is parking can often be hellacious.

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 2 (28) | Same where I live. Would the garage you could rent be able to fit another 2 bikes besides yours? Even space for one would be nice - nobody wants to steal a Fizzy! (a good thing)

| Squid | I would have to look into the garage size, and availability. I can find out later tonight, and I'll post up tonight/tomorrow.

| Squid | Well...turns out the garages are 1 car only, and I can't have both a carport and garage...(I have 2 cars and a motorcycle)...might have to switch to the garage, but there would only be room for 1 bike...Sorry Murray! would have been nice to have room for 2.
