| Spammer | http://www.socalsportriders.com/boar...topic=169&st=0 So recently this ride was brought up on SoCalSportRiders (another board I frequent a little bit more...) I'm not exactly sure if there is "drama" between the owners of this site and SoCalSportRiders or not - but I know some or most of us all know eachother. I think it would be cool to get together and ride. Will - from SCSR is kinda turning it into a "2 group" sort of deal - which is lame. I personally think it would just be cool if some of the frequent visitors from SBW and SCSR started riding together a bit more. That's all its about is just getting out there and getting some miles with friends. The idea has been brought up to sell shirts for the new SoCalSportRiders site on that day. But I don't want to offend anyone or try to compete with a fellow site. So if that idea does offend anyone could you please let me know. Thank You SBW. Jake. EDIT: Thread split from the Memorial Day Ride/BBQ thread by SPEED. |

In order for Mike to pull off this family tradition in the manner he's done in all the years past is to keep a handle on it and know exactly how many people he's gonna have to look after and feed. ...or should I say, his WIFE has to feed. :laughing :laughing The whole - ride with friends thing is totally cool, of course. The T-shirt thing...I'm not sure about that... :dunno Basically, I think I would like to see us keep this a family tradition and not some formal Forum Event or so... :dunno Just my 2 cents :biglaugh

There is no offense but is there a point? It almost sounds like your trying to market some shirts from another site on this site. There doesn't have to be a poll but I'd guess people who frequent this site would want shirts from this site. Hey if any one wants some old school "SoCalRiders" shirts you can have mine free!. I have dozens but stopped wearing them a while back. Better to have had a shirt that represents a has been than a never will be. Did I mention their free!

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 3 (34) | Guess this post should have been labeled "Ride and BBQ for OG members". Don't know where the shirt part of Swim's post came from, but more and more members are on both sites. Guess the new guys on this site might have gotten the impression they were invited to attend the ride / BBQ. They in turn wanted their friends from another site to join them. I do believe SCSRs were going to have a supply vehicle head up to the BBQ spot with supplys. Definately didn't want to break anyone's bank on food. SCSRs get together a lot and hold "emergency BBQs" and FuFs so the more regular members of that site are used to BYOB parties. I really think things are being taken the wrong way. Members of SCSRs wanted to meet some other SoCal riders and just have fun. That's my take on everything. It seems maybe there's some bad blood here. I'm not looking to take sides either. I just know that when I stopped in on the Tuesday GTG over off of Gennesse I meet some good people that could teach me some of the local roads and give me tips on riding and wrenching bikes. |

| Club Racer | This ride and BBQ is for the SBW members. If in the future you (SCSR members) want to set something up with SBW, I wouldent see a problem with it but you would need to get in contact with Mike (speed) as he is the owner and the law around these parts. btw, :wave Jake. |

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 6 (56) | Well, my dears, I have read the posts from the other site and those on this site and chuckle at some of the childish comments. This ride was posted on this site for this site's members as a SBW sponsored event. If you'd like to join this ride then post your message saying so. If you have friends wanting to join in post up and say so. But to try and merge another website's name onto this ride is BS. If you are a guest on this site and want to join the ride, then join this website and post up! The ride sounds like a lot of fun and a great opportunity to visit new roads, meet others from this site, and have a fun time. I would love to go, but our roommates' are getting married that weekend and we're down to one functional bike. Hopefully, Speed, maybe you can post another ride and by then the RC and Throttlepimp will be whole again and we can join in. If we do a potluck BBQ, I'd be more than happy to contribute to the food and drink. |

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 3 (34) | I am a member of SCSR, but I also am a member of a few other motorcycle boards, a few truck boards, a few car boards, etc. I do not swear allegiance to any of them, but just try to be a member of good standing in all of them. I can completely understand the resentment towards tagging another site's name onto this event since it's become a traditional event here. I'm glad to hear we are welcome to post up our attendence and join ya'll on the ride/BBQ. That's all I'm asking for. Like I said before, I'd like to meet more local riders and learn some new roads. :wave I'll be at the next Trattoria Firenze Tuesday meet and hope to meet some of you there. |

| Squid | Forums are not supposed to be "Businesses" or "Gangs" that compete with one another. They're supposed to be a centralized place for like-minded people to share - that's it. If you belong to a board and there's a ride/event posted up inviting board members to join, then you'd just post up that you'd like to join - and that's it! If you're not a member, then I would imagine that you would sign up and then post up that you'd like to join! I really don't understand the mentality of posting about the event on another board and then having talk about crashing the original event - that's just....wrong....and pointless!! :headscratch I can see competing businesses or rival gangs doing that to each other...but two motorcycle forums filled with fellow riders? What exactly is there to gain by doing that other than being mean? I wasn't aware of any bad blood or competition before I read that thread on the other forum. :laughing :laughing

iTrader: (5) Rep Power: 16 (42) | Wow........... how did this turn into anything other than what the thread title intends? :pat A little history on this ride/BBQ: A few years back I posted up on another board (before SBW was conceived) that I'd be going for a ride (the same route posted in the thread title) & then come back home for a BBQ with my wife & kids like we usually do on Memorial Day. I offered anyone that would like to join me to post up & I believe there were about 8-10 people that did so. On ride day we ended up with about 26 people & I did my best at that time to try to pull it off with very little large-group ride experience. We ended up with about 5-6 people crashing & it threw a huge damper on the event. Then I decided it would be easier to invite people privately after that experience to try to make it go off better & it worked. This ride has become a traditional event for some of us & I thought it would be a good idea to make it a special SBW event this time around....... some of our members have been after me for quite sometime to get one together. Please don't try to make this event out to be anything other than what it's intended to be...... a nice easy ride/BBQ get-together for Sportbikeswest.com members. I really don't aim to offend anyone, but I don't believe it's right to expect us to merge our ride/BBQ with another board. If you are a Sportbikeswest.com member & you would like to attend, please post up so we can plan accordingly. If you have motives other than just getting together with other Sportbikeswest.com members...... please stay away. Thanks for understanding. :cheers |

| Spammer | OFF TOPIC I would like to officially state my sincere applogy to the members of this board as well as to Mike for Learningtoswims' post. His frustration, I assume, put up the wrong message of what I had PRIVATELY asked Mike and did not get a response from, which is fine. There was no 'plan' to invade, it was joked about, but I stated on my site that it would be nice to actually ride with many of our friends that reside on this site almost exclusively now, due to the bad taste SoCalRiders left in their mouth...you are not alone, that's why I left and created a new site. I came here in the hopes of uniting many riders in private with the owner of this board and it should have not become an apparent hostility match in either site. So Please accept my applogy, Mike stated here his opinion and I respect that. So I will make sure the people on my site understand completely. Enjoy your ride, ride safe and have fun SBW members. |
