Default another SUPER SPORT TOURER adventure

The weekend's tour took us through the Southern Sierra's, the Inyo Forest and touched the Sequoia Nat'l Forest. Everyone met up here at my place around 830 AM we were out the door by 9. Three bikes this time, a BMW, and a V-STROM 650 and of course the FEEJ. I purchased two chatterboxes for so we could talk, listen to music and I could point out the sites along the way and provide a little history along the route. However due to the combination of my ignorance of the chatterboxes and their lacking instructions they didn't work so well. The bugs have now been worked out and they are awesome. Anyways.... back to the ride. We stopped and got gas near Indian Wells Brewery to top off the tanks before going over the top. Once that was complete we mounted up and headed up. We started our ascent through 9 mile canyon. This canyon is an old logging road and the road is not in the best of shape, always rocks in the road, along with sand. This one time, there was even a bear cub in the road. Story for another day. We head up, temps on the valley floor were approaching 95. But, its a dry heat. Once we heat the 4000' mark temps started drop and make the ride up most excellent. Once again we nailed the day and it was crystal clear. On the way up I sure to slow down enough to let the pillion riders see the view from up high through Owen's Valley. You could see all the way to the Trona Ridge. Just plain spectacular. Once to the top of Kennedy Pass we took a breather and relaxed to enjoy some cool temps. Next stop, Grumpy Bear's to enjoy some cool drinks and take in the view. We get back to Kennedy Meadows and it is lush green with no people. We sit at Grumpy's for a spell, then mount up and head out. This time we don't stop till we get to the Sherman Pass look out. Wish there was a good place to pull over to take a picture of the meadow when we got above it but there isn't. The roads are narrow and twisty, no shoulders, just not a good ideas to stop up there unless there is a pull-off. On pic 97, the far ridge you will see a white spot. Yes, that is snow. to the left of that you will see a slightly darker peak, that is Mt Whitney, the tallest peak in the contiguous U.S. It was 68 degrees here where we took the pics and we were at approx 8500'. Once again, could not have asked for a better day. Once done oogling God's work we headed down the moutain to the Kern River, where we picked up the pace a bit. It was hot, we were running out of water and, we were hungry. We stopped at the Kern Valley Brewing Company for lunch. NOPE, no beer for us. Lunch we excellent and we pushed on. Since we were there we did the N. shore of Lake Isabella, nice twisties up there. Wind was howling but, that is part of the territory. We came back to Rosamond via the BodFISH/CALIENTE road. Those of you who know it, take a minute and wallow in your jealousy. It was perfect back there, no wind, clean roads, no traffic, just awe inspiring. Once back to Tehachapi we brought the n00b's through the Tehachapi Loop. Another well maintained road with awesome twisties. Short tour through Tehachapi then back down to the desert floor.

It was indeed another epic ride on the SUPER SPORT TOURER. The BMW we found out was capable of agetting over 50 MPG. Don't think it will see that MPG again for awhile, owner tends to be heavy handed. The 650 V-Strom handled everything well with no issues. Nice comfy bike with supple suspension to pick up the not so nice surprises on forest roads. As for the Feej, well you all already know just how awesome a machine that it is. We were comfy and well protected the whole time. The wind didn't bother me like

Have a good day people. Will send you more pics when the BMW guy sends some of the ones he took during the trip. OH, I ordered a GPS unit for my camera. You will be able to click on the pic and GOOGLE EARTH will show you where I took the pic from. Though this may not be a good idea cause my roads will get crowded.
