Well, you already know how a fork works, oil pushing through the valves and such. The heavier the oil, the slower the push, the firmer the fork. Of course, firmness also has to do with your spring rate, but we'll leave that alone for right now. Worn out oil or no, I don't think that going to a lighter oil will give you better results in this case. I would stick with the 10.
How much do you weigh? Are your forks totally stock?

You should be fine on Qualifiers. Just make sure to listen to what the tire is telling you on a hot day. If things start to get sketchy, back off, come in, let the tire cool down a little bit. I've run those tires before, and IMHO they give GREAT feedback.

but, but, but, but, but ... what about my question about the Qualifiers?

(I suppose I have no choice since my current tires have the wear bars on the front and the rear is starting to de-laminate : new ones needed for Idyllwild)

Hahahahaha!! Wasn't there before I posted mine. We must have been racing to post. As usual, you won!

p.s. - Oh yeah .. thanks for the advice! I wouldn't mind the rear end stepping out, but NOT the front!

I skipped the front wheel a couple of times when riding Palomar, but I was going pretty fast and my suspension setup was ****ed. Overall, I really like those tires, and don't think you'll have a problem.

Yup totally stock. Yeah I already bought the 10weight to replace the worn oil.

I weigh about 170ish, I already know I need heavier springs, I guess I'm just concerned that the front end will pogo. Right now when I push down on it, the forks compress-release, and then drop again. I don't remember having that problem when it was new.

When I get done changing the oil I'm gonna put it back to stock settings and start the adjustment over, but I don't really know how it should be set other than stock..

Check your rebound. After a brisk push on the forks, with front brake locked, the fork should compress, then rebound and settle very quickly back into it's neutral sag position.

If it cycles a bit more, add rebound (clockwise).

I had the same problem with my Showas on my Tuono, however the rebound circuit just stopped working. I then did a Penske revalve and the front is now bomber.
