McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax. OBAMA Wants 28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.) DIVIDEND TAX MCCAIN is now 15% (wants no change) OBAMA wants 39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.') INCOME TAX MCCAIN (Wants no changes) Single making 30K - tax $4,500 Single making 50K - tax $12,500 Single making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 60K- tax $9,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250 OBAMA (wants reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts) Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Under Obama, your taxes could almost double! INHERITANCE TAX MCCAIN - 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax) OBAMA wants to restore the inheritance tax Mind you many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes. NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!! | Canyon Carver | Comparisions like this make me very defensive. No 1 canidate has all the right answers. I have not decided who I am voting for but, I don't like bias comaprisions Also, some of these facts listed are twisted to make McCain look better. For example: Obama voted against the bill to ban late term abortions because it did not contain a clause to protect the life of the mother. Now if your wife, and mother of your kids was pregnant and would die if she did not abort the baby, what would you have her do? Undoubtably that is a very tough choice for your wife and family to make. I feel that should be your choice and if it were up to McCain, you would not have a choice. Personally I lean more towards "pro-life" but definately think there are circumstances where they should be allowed. So if I wanted one sided mud slinging, I would just watch campaing commericals. iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 6 (16) | What he said ^^^. Biased to say the least. Just withholding small things can manipulate facts and completely distort the picture. Abortion-schmabortion... I'm amazed how educated people in the 21st Century even consider it election-level issue compared to the financial sh_t the country is in... Middle-class used to be able to afford houses... not anymore, and even apart from real estate the wages can't keep up with prices. The "American dream" is about to shatter. Unemployment, college degrees mean nothing at least in my field, nice secure middle class white-collar jobs are going to third-world countries like India, and the bulk of manufacturing (blue collar jobs) is already in China, so what we're left with? Changing hospital diapers of wealthy retired baby boomers? Or we should all invest in job-stealing companies like Tata Consultancy Services and live off dividents. Or even simpler... the entire population starts collecting welfare. Who gives a f_ck about abortion or the president being a war hero (30- years ago). It's about his ability to get the country out of the mess it's in. The taxes issue is a 100% political game. Democrats want Bush's tax cut to expire so then they can "cut" taxes themselves to take credit for that. Politicians. What else you expect from them? To really care about your $$$? I'm curious though where's Obama's cut-off of "95% of all working families". I have an impression I wouldn't be included (as always). Neither of those parties cares about middle class because we're the minority now. I equally dislike them both. Last edited by Bad-mofo : 09-04-2008 at 03:18 PM. |

| Canyon Carver | I do support McCain's stance on 2nd Amendment rights. Less "control" and stricter penalties for criminals. I also like his support of Veterans. I was really turned off about the whole Britney Spears/Paris Hilton bit. Don't get me wrong, I strongly dislike both these women. How can McCain put them in his commerical and then say "I don't know Paris Hilton and Britney Spears but they are international celebrities, so, you know, apples to apples."? So he said, "Hey I don't know these celebrities, but all celebrities are the same" which I fgind a little scary. What other generalizations does he make about people? |

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 6 (16) | Pro-gun movement let alone just "support" is largely irrelevant for our socialist state that makes its own rules. And really... any politician's "support", opinion, or stand on the issue means absolutely nothing unless he has plans to do anything about the issue. Though nice to have, [assault] gun ownership is more of a recreational activity for 99% of the population. Overall lower taxes... yeah, sure, who wouldn't want them, but when my employment is on the line, when wages in my industry are back to early 90's levels, I'm more concerned with that then a 5% tax cut (it's always a couple percent in my bracket). Gotta make money to pay taxes. I got a very bad feeling after McCain's speech last night. He and his "pro-business" party are not going to lift a finger to address the issue with white-collar jobs going overseas. He calls it "participation in the global economy" or something like that. No, wait a second... now I recall his plan. When it comes to worst and IT becomes 100% Indian (in 10-15 years per my conservative estimate), he'd send people like me to community colleges to learn something new. I wonder what it'd be and why a person with Masters degree needs to go to community college. Stupid me. To learn Hindi of course. Anyway that's his plan: community colleges. And while my post is my own interpretation which is the matter of opinion, here's one FACT about McCain. Yesterday I tried to search the Net to find out who slave traders (like Tata Consultancy Services) favor. The answer is obvious though they're very cautious and avoid political statements. Gotta ask their employees at work granted there are 200+ of them here. Anyway, I did another search and... Google "Indian outsourcing McCain" and see what comes up first: Campaign Silo » McCain Money Man Randy Altschuler Renowned For Outsourcing U.S. Jobs Forget about programmers who make "too much". Business visionaries took it to the new level. Now any white-collar office job (which means ALL of them) can be shipped to India. After all people there can learn Excel and Power Point even quicker than Americans, as they're obviously more motivated. I don't idealize Obama, but at least he's acknowledged the problem; Which he most likely is not going to do anything about just like McCain because it'd mean going against big money (Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, and such) who run this country. Like I said, opinions or comforting acknowledgment of the issue don't matter, actions do. Both make pessimistic statements like "it cannot be reversed", but from what I see at work (200-300 of them here on legal H1B and illegal L1 visas) at this stage the reversal is as easy as cutting the H1B program and enforcing L1 and B1 visa regulations. In 10 years after everything moves to India and they don't need to keep any staff here, then sure it'll become irreversible. Here's the best unbiased article I've found on the issue: Vijay Prashad: Obama and Outsourcing Last edited by Bad-mofo : 09-05-2008 at 11:09 AM. |

iTrader: (3) Rep Power: 5 (30) | I agree if your wife is gonna die yeah abort the child but they is more in depth to what we are talking here. Is this one sided yeah just like everything on Tv is one sided and if you decided to watch one comercial and agree with what it is saying you will find another saying the exact opposite. I guess I just should have said McCain appears to have more to offer to the United States than Barrack Hussein Osama. I hate the idea that with BHO will will have to hide our guns. ![]()
