Mike - remember Zorba's Bike Night that you got going? Remember the difficulties we had in trying to stop the guys from stunting all the time there? We needed them to behave so we didn't piss off the locals and LEO's, but it wasn't easy and we got a lot of attitude. A lot of times it boiled down to "fine, I hope the cops get him...". But then we were faced with the cops giving Zorbas a hard time and possibly shutting down the bike night - we would tell these riders this - "hey look - we can't have that **** around here or they'll shut down the bike night..." and did they care? Nope.

Mike, seems like you are getting some good responses. No one has a quick solution. But discussion will help.

I still think self policeing will help. No, you can't set up checkpoint on roads, but you can keep people from bike nights, refuse to ride with idiots, and educate squids.

I think you guys went a little to far with the self policing thing. My point was more to educate people you meet that are new to riding and more so to make people who you personally ride with responsible for their actions. I don't have any problem telling people I ride with if I think they're out line in one way or another and if they don't change I just don't ride with them anymore. It's not about changing everybody on the road it's about changing the attitudes and actions of the people you considerer friends and fellow riders into something positive.

Lets face it we all have a little rebel and a little sheep inside of us for example last night at SBBN someone made a comment about never seeing so many riders with gear on at a bike night do you think it's a coincidence? It just so happens I knew just about everyone there last light and have ridden canyons with most of them. Guaranteed if a stunt crew had shown up with half shells and face masks there would have been a part of the parking lot taken over for wheelie and stoppie night. If one rider in a group takes actions the rest of the group won't condone it will stop on the other end of the spectrum if a group of riders does things an individual rider doesn't condone they'll either conform or leave.

If the popo see us with our gear on not riding like morons etc. and then see another group of riders acting the opposite who do you think they're gonna "harass" ???

People are gonna do what they're gonna do all I can do is throw my 2 cents in and leave it at that. I can't make anyone do anything, but I can set an example..."self policing" think about it what is the first word in that...that's were it starts.

Its going to have to start somewhere. Yes, education is necessary on both sides.

Well, from my pespective, if I see you in full gear doing nothing wrong and another group acting stupid. I'm going to have a talk with the other group.

It doesn't start with the police. It starts with riders helping to educate and LEO that know the rider's point of view educating other LEO.

there are dumbass cops out there who fault me for my full leathers though - they call it "Road Racing Gear" - saying it proves I'm one of the "Road Racers" - who runs from cops...

Someone needs to educate those popo...

Yup there are...but as you complain that LEO generalize that all riders in gear are "road racers" aren't you generalizing about all LEO? I think you know enough of my coworkers to know that's not true.

And we are educating...

Why do I think I'm going to be in trouble for this one :love2

Yup...she's been pointing out the error of my words... :bitchslap

She didn't generalize, that's just the way I took it. I do know the main cop that she's referring to...he should be retiring soon.
