Its going to have to start somewhere. Yes, education is necessary on both sides.

Well, from my pespective, if I see you in full gear doing nothing wrong and another group acting stupid. I'm going to have a talk with the other group.

It doesn't start with the police. It starts with riders helping to educate and LEO that know the rider's point of view educating other LEO.
I think you may have misunderstood my post...my post was my response to the responses I received on my original post about us as riders policing ourselves. It's not about the police other than to show we can be responsible for ourselves and to other people on the road. The first word in "self policing" is "self" that's where it starts with myself as an individual as a rider to set an example etc...

Oh yeah and Dawn I don't think they call you a "road racer" just for your apparel I'm thinking they may have seen you on a group ride :biglaugh :bolt

Going by the poll, it looks like most people believe it's best to reach out to people to help educate them.

Since this poll, has anybody taken someone under their wing? If so, please let us know what's going on.

I have only given advice to a couple of people who have asked me privately for some. I haven't "adopted" anyone, though.

I always just try to do as Sean said, and be an example. Even if it means be an example of what NOT to do, when I do something stupid, or have some sort of "incident". I tend to learn from other people's errors when I can, so I have no problem letting everyone know when I do something dumb, and posting what I should have done differently so others can benefit from my errors without the broken bones or worse.
