Just as with safety gear, I prefer to break in new stuff rather than worry about used/reconditioned goods....

1. The tires that you sell are "remanufactured", what does that mean?

We use radial tire carcasses to remold our proprietary rubber process onto the used tire carcass. Our process is similar in many ways to how a new tire is made. The only thing that is recycled is the carcass. The method is not like a truck tire, which has a pre-cured tread, applied with glue. Our tires are mechanically shaved down via a computer controlled buffing machine to a precise level and then new, uncured rubber is reapplied via a computerized extruding machine in pre-selected compounds. The tires are then inserted into individual molds that have the tread patterns in them and they are recured at high temperature and high pressure?.just like a new tire. The motorcycle tires are manufactured with the same processes and quality assurance checks as our aircraft retreads. We use all types of carcass in our process, the types and designs are similar to what you would see coming off of any current bike.

Do a search on BARF... you'll see a decent street review. You have Garth's race review. :thumbup

OK....

"The machine that molds the tires is basically the same as the machine that molds a new tire. The process of placing the rubber is almost identical to the process of placing rubber on a new tire. Added reassurance is that each tire goes through a fancy X-ray machine called Laser Shearography to check for any problems. If there are any, the tire is chucked. So far almost all of the tires have been perfect"

1- The process is Almost identical to placing rubber on a new tire.

2-If there are any problems the tire is Chucked

I don't believe I'd feel too comfortable in turn 8 at super high speeds on on tires that are anything less than those manufactured by a company that has been around for a very long time working hard at perfecting the process of the "New" carcas that "They" made.

If there is a problem with a tire they made, why would they chuck the tire rather than strip it down again, and do it over?.......Isn't the whole point of these tires to conserve the planet?

I have personally not tried retreads, but have heard from a couple sources that when they tried them, the tires were out of round (Not perfectly round) causing a bunpy ride.

In the article above, the Mad Racing Team got a 4th place on them during a race out of 15 entries in the Middleweight Superstock Class, and 18th overall out of 50 entries, and they did it on remanufactured Tomahawk Tires.

I don't think I'll be ready for quite awhile to put my trust in them. I'd like to see more testing done in various types of conditions.

What are your thoughts?.....ready to try them out yet? :dunno
Why aren't you ready you've been running on retreads most of your adult life and haven't had any probs have ya? think about it a tractor trailer combo is probablly as hard on tires as running a few laps at willow.....most of the time with a re tread the tread comes off and air stays in the tire the effect of a blown tire have to be close to the same on new tires as retreads at the track.....wouldn't ride them on the street nessicarly but in a closed course envirorment why not.....course i'd like to see dunlop or p-relli or mi****len make them my concern is more with tomahawk as a company...
Hahaha, my young truck driver wanna-be......Retreads are not leagal to run as steering tires, and quite often when the retread comes apart, the tire blows.....however, on a big truck, I have extra tires to help prevent an accident unlike on a two-wheeled motorcycle.

Just not enough real world testing done for me yet, but feel free :wave
Yeah and am I missing something in my reading isn't there concern now with dunlops race tires wich are brand spanking new falling apart at high speeds? or am I dreaming that i've read several articles to that nature and did I miss understand all the racers are buying the EU version of them cuz they are better and aren't having probs?

This is like anything new most ppl are just affraid to try it cuz it's new and not well understood.

Not sure unless you are speaking of the old thing with Miladin? :headscratch

The issue with the US made Dunlops for me was only that they don't last as long :thumbup

Edit: Can you imagine Miladin riding on those retreads?! He'd most likely make them pop after a few laps :lmao

The Miladin incident comes to mind acctually belive he's had more then one....and i've seen of the same probs with the US tires on several boards same sorrta tread just up and flying off kindda things.....

i'd venture out and take a guess that 75-80% of street riders don't ride hard enough to cause a failure....

i'll also bet guys like miladian and rossi and edwards and hayden and duhumer can ride hard enough to make ANY tire fail new used retread blue grean pink or black.....
