iTrader: (5) Rep Power: 15 (42) | Since I've been involved with trackdays as a control rider I've been telling people at our informal class for newbies that my first trackday was very nerve racking for me to say the least. My first trackday a couple years ago was at Streets of Willow and although I was known to be one of the faster canyon riders, I wasn't ready to start out in the "A" group but was told the "B" group was too full for me to drop down into. I was trying to make sure I soaked in all the info relayed during the morning riders meeting but was still a bit unsure afterwards if I had. I was very concerned that I hold a tight line & be as predictable out there as possible......I really didn't want to take someone else out. It took me at least half the day to relax a bit, and start getting the hang of it after a couple "OH CRAP!" moments. By the end of the day I was doing pretty well, and realized that there are so many different levels of speed out there.....some people I could tear up on the street were tearing me a new one on the track, lol. :pat Thank God I didn't get in too far over my head, and that GSXR-Freak didn't rear-end me when I brake-tested him hard going into the chicane. Whew, what a rush & I was hooked for life!! I found out that riding on the track is all about how well I could ride a bike and not so much about distractions like cars, animals, or anything else. Just like a "First Love" I'll never forget my very first trackday. It's always fun to dice it up with good friends. :happyb What was your first time like? Here's a picture of GSXR-Freak & me having a blast on my very first trackday... ![]() Last edited by SPEED : 03-01-2007 at 08:42 PM. |

| Know It All | I had a freaking blast. I followed Brian and a crapload of other control riders and think I improved over 110%. I was nervous for the warmup lap of the first session but that was it. I love it. -SF

| Newbie | My first trackday was awesome. It was nice and not too hot. I tried to mimic others while following them around the track but came to realize that I should take my time and enjoy rather than being technical. It was an experience that I wiould never trade for with anything else. It made me realize that wow...I CAN BE A RACER TOO!!! or maybe just look like one..lol |

iTrader: (0) Rep Power: 5 (11) | May 1st 2004 I had a great Trackday, Yes it was nerve Racking, because we only really did 1 novice session and then kicked into the intermediate group, everyone was passing me, it made me feel really slow, which I really was, LOL. But what was cool was, that I pitted with a bunch of experienced "A" group riders "Speed", "Tryful", "Highdiver" & "CBR Riding Fool"! So Okamura & myself had gotten lots of good advice and tips from them, which made it easier, I remember bringing this canopy that was such a pain in the butt to put up it was funny, but hey at least we had shade! I had a blast! what an experience... yup just like many others, bitten by the track bug ever since! as of yesterday I've done 8 trackdays. LOL thanks for the edit button Speed! :laughing
