Turkish Grand Prix Joins Schedule Come Together 2/17/2005
The financially troubled Rio GP of Brazil, round two of the MotoGP World Championship, has been cancelled and replaced, in a roundabout way, by the inaugural Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul, according to several sources.
The April 17 Rio race will be replaced by the Portuguese GP at Estoril, originally the penultimate race scheduled for the weekend of October 30. The Turkish race will slot in a week earlier on October 23, one week after the Australian GP at Phillip Island.
The race will be held at the Istanbul Otodrom Circuit, a brand new 3.34-mile track that will host the first-ever Formula One GP on August 21. |
