Congrats to Craig Mason (seesm) for making the big show at Infineon last weekend. His result may not have been what he was hoping for, but hey, none of the rest of us could make the grid if we tried. Good job Craig!

Mike is right he can smoke me for sure...

I appreciate the kind words James that is cool...

The whole weekend started off pretty bad but ended up ok.

I started by not riding at all since a AFM at Infineon 8 months ago... So I was WAAAY rusty for sure... Got down to my fastest times of 07 but was not consistant or going any faster... (if you know me I must go faster each time I visit a track, cuz that is like a win for me)

After much struggles and trying some suspension setting changes we finally missed making the man in FX. I figured out that we had not put Infineon gearing on at all we had the old Laguna Seca gearing... Stupid I know... my last ride was a local AFM with Laguna gearing...

So I put the right gearing on and dropped another 1.8 seconds fast... But when Supersport qualifying rolled around I was spent... (Usually FX is faster but for 08 SS was faster by just a little) So I went out for the 25 minute qualifying session and was soo spent I packed it up as soon as I knew we made the show... We packed up qualifying after only 12 minutes (Figuring I could race better than I qualify)

I started dead last 31st and got up to like 24-25th after lap #1. (Mind you the AMA shows me after lap 1 in 27th BUT I passed a LOAD of guys)

I was feeling smooth and all was good till going into lap 2 or 3 I got bumped off in turn 9 by (forget his 1st name) #33 Amantini from Venezuala... He I guess got a bad start and I was in his way.. So with that I was back in 31st pretty fast. So I got back going and started catching the last few racers and it was going ok and I was having fun... But a few laps later I ran off all by myself in 9 and was back far again... I will I think do better at Miller World SBK cuz Infineon was a warm up only pretty much...

So here is hoping for at least a little better and to make BOTH mains in Supersport and Formula Extreme.. COme on by and see me if any of you make it... I will be riding the #181 Yellow, blue and white "Moto Elite" backed Yamaha R6.

Ok I am going to bed!! Stay cool!! -Craig Mason

Seems seesm forgot to tell us something awhile back.....

Quote:
From Fast50s.com

May 12th, 2008: Moto Elite a Grass Valley, Ca. based parts and accessories store is pleased to announce a support program with Auburn, California roadracer Craig Mason.

Mason will compete in select AMA Superbike rounds riding the #181 Yamaha R6 in both Supersport and Formula Extreme classes. Mason will also race the AFM Championship series. He will be racing Mike Wymer Performance prepped 2007 Yamaha R6's that will be tuned by Kevin Greene while riding on Pirelli tires out of the SuperbikeTires.net camp.

Craig began racing motocross when he was 16 and did that for quite a few years. Then with 6 years off due to injuries he came back in '03 to race AMA Supermoto, Supermoto USA and some International events. From 03-05 in AMA he finished quite a few top 15's, with some top 5's in SMUSA and International events.

"When we met Craig and saw how serious he is about having fun we thought this is a perfect fit for us as that is what we are all about at Moto Elite, he promotes his sponsors well too. Come and see us in our hospitality area and talk MOTO with us" Say's team principle and Moto Elite CEO Erik Kreizenbeck.

See Team Moto Elite at the upcoming AMA Superbike Event, at Infineon Raceway, Sonoma California on May 16-18th and the rest of at least the west coast swing including World Superbike at Miller Motorsports in Tooele, Utah. Laguna Seca Raceway.

Thanks for the kind words folks... I need some luck at Miller, but I am at least a "little" more prepared I feel anyway for Miller... They are only taking 40 to the big show there.... They cut the fields a fair bit for that... And WAAAY mroe people are riding Miller than at Infineon.

So here goes...
