Default What class/motorcycle would you start in?

I'm thinking of getting into racing.

I'm thikning of going the 125gp route or maybe Lightweight FZR400.

What do you guys think?

I know the 125s take alot to maintain but I think I can handle that part.

I'm only thinking of just WSMC, don't want to travel all over to do this.

Lastly I'm thinking slower bikes because I really don't want to get seriously hurt, a broken bone or what not but nothing major.

What are your thoughts ?

Ummmm I probably should have posted this in Amature Racing :asshat :laughing

Looks like I'm gona be using my 929 once I'm able to, mostly because I can't afford another bike. Its a personal choice which one to start in, either way a crash and still hurt on either size, to many variables. Just beware of the Axe Murderer class aka 600 middleweight :yikes I've also looked at a couple fo SVs for racing in Battle of the twins.

You can get seriously hurt in any class, but there are classes with less people in them, and you could just stay in the back all the time, lol. I was told that racing an SV would be better than an inline 600. The 125 classes seem to have a lot less people in them than the others. Go out there on the 16th, grab a schedule, and watch the different classes, then make some notes as you watch to help give you a good idea.

Far as I know. Also, we have some friends that races two strokes, so you should be able to ask questions while you are there.

I'll be racing my R1 this year, bike is paid for so why not. If your concerned about getting hurt, buy really top quality protection, you can't go wrong in doing that.

Slacker, a lot of people race 125's...okay maybe not a lot, but Jay (420 on another board) races one. He usually wins every month, so he'd be happy to have the competition :laughing
