Don't know why but it does it. If you go into a turn hard enough and snap a pic (not you snapping the pic but a friend) you will look like your backing it in SM style (not as defined of course)
If you going down the road or straight on the track try to steer the bike as your starting off and you do counter steer all the time except when at a dead stop or near stop starting off.
Thanks Craig.

In regards to all the countersteering talk, that should all be done on the entrance of the turn. After that, I would do my best to not make any more input to the bars at the apex. There are other things that are less subtle that will turn the bike. Countersteering at the apex is too much input.

I agree 100% with Steve here. Counter steering should be done at the entrance, Steering after that should be done with the body. I use a lot of legs. When I feel I am running wide I lean my body more starting with my head. I look opposite of where I think I am going (right side of the track if I am about to run of the left side) Instinctualy I roll of the gas, but in reality I should be keeping it the same or rolling on slightly. Rear brake will help you tighten up the line, but I just don't have the skill (or balls) at this point

Last year I just started to use the rear and it made a huge differnce for me. Now mind the disclaimer here: I have modified the rear brake so that it is IMPOSSIBLE to lock it up. I have it tuned to the point I can literally stand on the lever (when going straight) and the rear will not lock up. Even with the brake modified, it is still is a tricky thing to work with.

So when are you going to show me how to modify mine?

Yeah, I'm curious, how did you modify it? I've heard a couple of crack-pot ways of doing it, but I'm sure you wouldn't take that route.

The method I've heard of is to let a little air into the line... but there's probably more than one way to skin the cat.
