Info: I am, to my knowledge, the third owner of this motorcycle since 17,770 miles. It currently has 26xxx miles on it, though the current gauge reads less (17,330 miles) because I just put on a 97-98 instrument cluster which has a white background instead of a black background that the 95-96 F3?s came with. I have owned a few bikes and worked on many bikes at the shop, so I know how to take care of my bikes. CA model bike. Selling to purchase a new bike.
All maintenance has been done by me and recorded since I have owned this bike. All problems have been documented and fixed. Bike runs superbly and has never been wheelied by me (I can?t do them). Only time bike sees redline is at the track and it has only been at the track twice. Bike has been down a few times, but there is no frame damage, probably because the frame is composed of steel, unlike the aluminum frames of newer bikes, which are lighter, but more fragile. Fluids are constantly and consistently changed on this bike. Bike just received some new paint, but frankly, the paint job isn?t that great and the fairings and gas tanks have cosmetic imperfections, thus the low asking price.
Bike is very capable on the street or track. No engine modifications have been done to preserve gas mileage (runs on 87 octane, 40mpg) and also to preserve the longevity of the engine. All major service has been recently done ? wont have to do anything until the next oil change; the DOT-race tires have thousands of miles left and will give new or experienced riders confidence; registered to July 2006. Comes with new adjustable ignition rotor, easy installation or have the shop do it for you (probably an hour?s labor), retails for $80 and provides low and mid-range power. However, bike is already very responsive.
