| Spammer | 2001-2004 Suzuki GSXR 1000 STM Slipper Clutch Kit Used by the Pros, this system prevents downshift overrevs, downshift-braking rear wheel chatter to enable smoother cornering transitions while preserving the engine and reducing tire wear! This "wet" system is to be used with the factory type friction and steel plates, factory basket, factory clutch cover, and a common premium grade motor oil. Each system is matched for the individual bike and contains a serial # for identification. Heavy duty diaphragm springs are also marked for precise adjustment if one cares to experiment with various settings by purchasing additional springs. All systems are equipped with a 2 piece hub separated by a 45 degree ramp angle which float on steel ball bearings when "slipping". This system does not increase clutch wear to an appreciable extent if installed correctly nor will the system allow for slippage during acceleration. The kit consists of: 2-piece hub with 45 degree ramps Pressure Plate Clutch Diaphragm Spring and Mounting Hardware Designed to eliminate rear-wheel chatter and the resulting chassis instability that occurs upon aggressive downshifting, STM’s patented ball and ramp slipper clutches reduce engine braking to make tap-dancing gear changers into smooth operators—smoothness being the key to safe, fun sport riding. In addition to better keeping the back end under control, STM slippers offer increased clutch life, reduced clutch-lever effort and greater sensitivity in low-traction conditions. In the ‘90s, STM looked toward the motorcycle market by producing the first prototype slipper clutch. This basic design forever changed the company’s main focus to high-powered two-wheelers. The slipper clutch was first tested by World Superbike mainstay Pierfrancesco Chili and then used on Ducati factory bikes, which then won the World Superbike Championship with Carl Fogarty ![]() ![]() |
