This IBM T40 ThinkPad laptop offers the latest in processor technology, the IBM ThinkPad T40 is strikingly modest in its design. The lightweight (5.4-pound) T40 is incredibly thin--just 1.1 inches tall with the 14.1-inch screen closed--and offers IBM's great keyboard with both eraserhead and touchpad pointing devices, each with their own smoothly working mouse buttons. The ThinkLight, an LED in the lid that a keystroke combination activates to shine a light on the keyboard, is a useful feature that helps when working in dim light. A slim combination DVD-ROM/CD-RW optical drive comes with this model. As on all IBM models, the metal hinges connecting the T40's lid to the body are tough as nails and well suited to day-in, day-out business use.
The standard configuration for the IBM ThinkPad T40 includes a smallish 30GB hard drive and a combo CD-RW/DVD drive in the laptop's modular bay. Around the rim, you'll find two USB 2.0 ports, a serial port for a mouse, an RJ-11 port for the T40's built-in modem, a Gigabit Ethernet port, audio-in and audio-out jacks, two Cardbus slots, a parallel port for a printer, and a VGA port for an external monitor.
