An update from Dave via SBR forum:

Quote:
All,

Managed to find an internet cafe in Salinas tonight and try to spend a little time catching up. I don't have much time as my email account is in the 3 digits, but wanted to get through to SBR and provide an update, and once again say thanks!

I sent a lot of detailed information to Eddy and he will be posting it later tonight or tomorrow to all other lists and forums. It may be posted now on SBR somewhere else....

Bottom line, unless there are receipts, there's no replacement payment. After 10 years of tool collecting, there's very few. I have to look in a lot of places, call individuals for handwritten bills of sale (don't feel too good about doing that) and go back to businesses and look up items. Vadim is right, this will take months.

If there are pictures, there are pennies on the dollar to be negotiated. I can get emails to attest to the trailer contents, but need pictures before they will consider payment. There are pictures of the 10 x 20 canopy and the Yamaha 10 x 10 with the generators holding it down. That helps.

Then there's personal tools vs work tools. Most know my red box was the daily tool box for track work, but the big box stayed in the trailer. I have no optimism at all that I can get anything for the big box.

So why the !@#$%^ do we pay for insurance when the insurance company can find a way out???!!! It has been almost a week now and after 4 calls, not one has been returned. If nothing happens tomorrow, I will try to fight my way up the chain and politely but firmly start a lava flow. I would hope that this ineptness and deliberate avoidance will help with my claim, but most likely not.

Andy was right in a PM to me. Unless it has a unique identifier, there's no sense going after it. I know my own stuff, and it seems the posting for the sport chock is gone. I will still pass that posting on to SAPD because the pin was too unique to just ignore as was the timing.

There is a posting for one set of Chicken Hawk warmers lost in Richmond on CL. I have emailed the seller and intend to go pay a visit to verify if they are or are not mine, as I know what the case looks like from wear and tear, where the tire warmers are worn/have oil on and how I tied the elasticated ties.

Sorry this is short - there's so much to do. I don't have chance to check eBay, but there's a week for items there. Hopefully Wednesday I can squeeze a couple of hours for more searching.

thank you

dave

Damn, what a horrible thing to have happen. Sucks that he is going to lose out on most of his things.
Horrible people out there in the world!

I think we can all help out in this ordeal by all giving a little bit. I'd like to set up an auction to help pay for replacement of his items........ What do you all think?

Looks like most of the things have been replaced. Very cool to see people come together & help out a fellow motorcyclist in need.

Indeed, although he has some biggies left to go.

Best help - use his services.
Heck, I paid him to turn my preload one turn and give a tumbs-up to my zip-tie on the forks.
I didn't even get a chance to have my bike weighed for 5 bucks because it was so popular.
