Well at least they found it. Depending on damage though I am not sure I would want it back. Once a truck like that gets trashed who knows what your really getting back somethings just don't go back to origional condition.

Actually I found out that they busted the guys while they were driving it across the Tohono Indian reservation.

I have GEICO ins. and the adjuster told me they don't have an inspector out by it so they had to hire an independent to look at it. Then She told me that they wanted to haul it to the nearest shop in Arizona to be fixed. I told her no, I want it fixed back home here in Escondido if it's salvageable. Cali law says I can bring it to whatever shop I want despite any association they may have. Plus I want to be able to see and inspect it myself. I told her: "What if they fix it and you make me go pick it up on my dime, and there is still things wrong with it?" I would waste an entire trip out there for nothing. It's not my fault they took it out of state, that's why I have Insurance. But all that still remains to be determined. It may not be fixable.

Tony, yeah sure sounds like nothing is easy. Have it looked at by someone you trust.

Good points about not wanting to get there and find it less then 100% talk about getting left high and dry in AZ.

In the the short term I hope they are paying your rental car payments.

OK, spoke to the adjuster out in AZ. The truck is a total loss. Geico has this thing where you can see pics of your vehicle and the adjuster said he was gonna put up some pictures soon so I could see the damage. I guess it's for the best, a vehicle with that kind of damage will never be the same. Got go car shopping, maybe I can get a good end of the year sale price on one. I'll put up some pics as soon as I can see them myself.

Glad it all worked out. I'm sorry of course it happened and it's still a headache, but you'll find a better truck and better deal. C'mon, the gas prices are not going down any time soon. Actually if you shop now (at the end of the month), it's the best time of the year to buy cars.

But please don't buy used from a dealer. There are lots of desperate people out there not to mention that the consumerist type who like (liked) living large driving that type of vehicle for no reason at all (if they don't tow anything) typically stretch their income on many things, so their mortgages (among other debts) must hurt them right now too, which makes them even more desperate to get rid of whatever car payments they have. Good luck.

Hope you get what it's worth. You don't have to take their first offer either. Haggle if you must to get the most money out of them. They usually try to lowball you & hope you just take the money..... I can't remember if you have gap insurance or not.

Good luck with finding a new one.
