| Newbie | Heya everyone. For those who remember me, I figured I would drop a line and let you all know how I am doing. Currently, I am currently playing in the great sandbox of Al-Anbar province Iraq. Got sent out with a Shock Trauma Platoon, which is basically a mobile trauma center. Without getting into too many details, we are having a grand old time already. Of our already undermanned team, we had 5 pulled to another region, and one have an appendix that decided it wanted to explode (lived, and is doing fine). I've been out here for about 3 months and been activated since last December. I got a semester left of college for my degree. The bike (my '07 750 that I love) is in the shop, as it has been since I left. Went on a ride with my brother and father up the 1 highway to Monterey. Was a beautiful ride... was. At a passing section, I accelerated to pass the little traffic and, being lead, to leave enough room for my father and brother behind me. I let off the gas and the bike started drifting immediately to the left till it started to cross the double yellow. I gently increased resistance until the bike finally decided to come back to the right. Now it was slowly drifting right towards the side of the road. I started down shifting lightly and braking heavy with the rear, assuming the front tire was going flat. Got it down to about 20-25 MPH and once it his the side it pulled down the little embankment and into the very soft dirt. Front end decided it wanted to try and dig for China and I found myself learning how to fly. I was in gear, and was perfectly fine. The bike, smashed every cosmetic part on her, along with the clutch side controls, cracked open the gas tank, broke off the slider on the swing arm and broke the fork stops off the frame. Under closer examination, there was a nice sized hole in the front tire. In any case, I lucked out in my opinion, as I managed to go down in the one section of straight road that did not have cliffs for an edge. After an equally fun endeavor of getting home, I got it to a shop (very reluctantly, I really do not like people putting their hands on my bike). Still with my girlfriend, Cassi, for almost 3 years now and I can not say enough how happy I am. That is pretty much all I have been up to since I last saw you all in Mira Mesa's bike night out there. Not sure what bike nights are going on now a days. When I get home, and get re-situated and comfortable going faster than 35 mph (let alone on 2 wheels) I'm definitely hitting the track up. Been putting that off for far far too long. Too all those who remember me, hows it been going for you? For all you that do not know me, I hope to meet you all when I return home. Take care everyone, ride shiny side up.

iTrader: (5) Rep Power: 15 (42) | Very good to hear from you brother! It has been quite awhile! Thanks for serving! Too bad you can't be here for our trackday in June. When do you think you'll be returning? Don't remember you having an '07 750, I thought you were still on the Kwak, lol. Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to know you aren't hurt. |

| Newbie | Supposed to be home sometime in September according to the schedule. The Kawasaki had an unfortunate incident about 3 years ago that involved the bike totaling out. Didnt buy a new bike for awhile, not cause I didnt want to but because I had transfered to a 4 year school and was focusing on that. I putted around on my brothers pile that he bought for $250 sometimes. All the plastics were being held on by duct tape and one of the foot pegs was a large allen wrench welded to the frame.... yeah... I got the new bike when my girls cousin bought a bike, he was 18 and I figured I could teach him a couple things that might help him. I talked to him a lot about riding, and he had one of the most level heads out of anyone I knew no matter the age. I bought my bike and we planned to ride the coast from Carlsbad to La Jolla. A week later a car pulled out of a parking lot in front of him a they collided. He wasn't speeding and was less than 1/2 mile from his house on the way to work. I never got to ride with him. Well thats the story about when I got the new bike. I only put 14500 miles on the new one in the first year (compared to the 28000 I put on the kawi the first year). Well, I gotta head out for the morning. Gotta check and see if all my Marines, Sailors and weapons are accounted for. Take care everyone.
