data cable, drivers and lgvx6000

OK to any other cell phone computer junkies.

So I got the data cable, loaded the drivers d/l the software bitpim, the newest 7.1 or whatever. Cool it's working, I'm able to put my own wallpaper, but I can't do tones, grrr wtf. So I look around some more in the device manager, ah I see need to use another drver, cause the comp thinks the phones a modem, ok so I do that, and now it doesn't see the device. :wtf

I've deleted the drivers, re-installed them, tried over and over again, and all I get now is unkown device. Any ideas what to do?
It's a usb cable. LGvx6000.
Ive posted on some of the cell phone forums, lol yes they do have them, with actually some good info on hacks and what not...

Anyway see if I get any help here. Can't hurt other then my feelings for everyone calling me a dork. :funflip

I think pretty much everyone but nextel you can download ring tones and wallpapers over the air no need for the cable.....

If you find nextel stuff for free somewhere let me know the only place i've found it is nextel and they charge two bucks a ring tone....

what phone you use? All you need is the data cable and the correct drivers, and the program I mentioned above and you do it all your self from your own comp. Just do a search for your phone and data cable. I paid 25 bucks for mine. It worked for 5 minutes...lol I'll get it to work again the cable is good, just xp sucks.
