Default swingarm welding

Thought I'd throw this out. Maybe someone has been through something similar.

Just got to look at my bike closely last night as we unloaded it from the trailer.
Well I watched as it was unloaded.
As we attempted to put it up on the rear stand I notice that the left swingarm spool is missing. Can't lift. OK.
Then I notice that the whole tab the swingarm slider threaded into is also missing. Looks like the whole thing was ripped off.
The question is this:
Has anyone fabricated and welded a piece of aluminum to the swingarm to replace a piece like this.
I figure if I can get a small 'block' of aluminum I can tap it so it's threaded with the required diameter and then weld it back onto the swingarm. Sounds reasonable.
I wouldn't even bother but my rear stand is the spool lift type and I really like using my tire warmers on race weekend.

If anybody is out at Pahrump cruising around T3 this weekend, keep an eye out for a swingarm slider and a small piece of aluminum. ;]
thx

sounds good. I heard aluminum is a sort of tricky metal to make it look pretty wioth welding but other than that it should work fine

I have a TLr swingarm that had the suspension tabs moved to match my TLs suspension. Just need to find a competent welder who knows aluminum. Mine was done by a guy in NY with a jig for the s suspension setup.

swing arms are pretty cheap on ebay and just buying one may be cheaper than sending it out to get welded. swing arms tend to go for less than 50 bucks and some times that is with the shock also. so i think that is a pretty good option :thumbup
