Never use a wrench to put on an oil filter. As tight as you can get it with your hands is plenty.

Filters should be "hand tight"

That's what everybody has been telling me. The main purpose of the oil wrench was to take the filter off, without making a big mess, however there was no reason why it didn't fit in the first place. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions.

A piece of cardboard works well for keeping the oil from getting on the pipes. Honda is Japaneese for puzzle.
